Sworn translation of the diploma
In what cases might a certified translation of a diploma be necessary?
In case it is a requirement of the recipient (foreign university or employer).
For a more comprehensive understanding of the educational level attained by the document holder, the educational institution or potential employer may request a notarized translation of the diploma and the diploma supplement.
A notarized translation of the diploma and its annex is required:
- to carry out the procedure for recognizing the equivalence of education obtained in the territory of a foreign state;
- to carry out the full consular legalization procedure;
- to obtain a visa, etc.
In such cases, the diploma and its annex are translated into the language of the destination country, and the translation is notarized.
Make sure to check with the host party about the document requirements.
Questions that need clarification:
- Is a notarized translation required in principle?
- Will they accept a notarized translation done in Russia?
- Is it necessary to first have the original notarized and then the notarized translation?
- Is it necessary to apostille the original or the notarized copy of the document, or should the apostille be on the notarized translation?
IMPORTANT!
- The application is not valid without the diploma.
- According to notarial regulations, the diploma and the supplement are two separate documents.
- However, the apostilled diploma and certificate are now a single document.
