Document Legalization for France
Legalization of personal or commercial Russian documents for France is done by way of stamping an Apostille. France ratified the Hague Convention of November 25, 1964 and the Convention went into effect in the country as far back as January 24, 1965. Since then, all official (in other words, those issued by state authorities or notarized) Russian documents intended for use on the territory of France needed to be apostilled.
- An apostille is a square stamp that is printed on documents. This stamp is placed on the original documents (usually more preferable) or on notarial copies.
- An apostille doesn't require any other document certification or legalization and is acknowledged by the official authorities of all nations that signed the Hague Convention of 1961. You can acquaint yourself with the full list of countries that have signed this convention on public resources.
- An apostille may not be used if legal grounds exist that annul or simplify the legalization of a document (conventions or agreements signed between the countries). You must also take into account that not all documents can be apostilled (for instance, commercial documents).
You can always ask our company specialists about how long apostilles will take, which documents can and cannot be apostilled, and which authorities of the Russian Federation are able to complete this procedure.
