What is this visa?

  • It is issued for one year and can be extended without leaving Spain. This visa, as its name suggests, does not grant the right to work.
  • Consequently, the applicant must demonstrate financial solvency throughout the duration of the visa.
  • Applications for this visa must be submitted to the Spanish consulate in the applicant's country of origin. Upon entering Spain, the applicant receives a residence permit . No lucrative " (sometimes also called "white residence").

What is required to apply for a non-profit residency visa?

  • First, documentary evidence of sufficient financial resources to cover expenses during residence in Spain is required.
  • You will need to obtain a health insurance policy.
  • You will also need a certificate of no criminal record with an apostille.

Meeting the financial requirements is key, as it is the basis for obtaining a visa and subsequently a residence permit of this type.

Financial solvency must be documented by bank statements and consist of:

  • Minimum income that covers 400% of the IPREM ( Indicator Public Income Tax Multiple ). In 2025, this amounts to approximately 28,800 euros per year for each adult applicant.
  • The IPREM (Public Income Indicator) is a public income indicator updated annually in Spain. This indicator is analogous to the Russian subsistence minimum, the amount used to calculate social benefits.
  • In 2025, the IPREM will be €600 per month or €7,200 per year.

A residence permit in Spain without employment allows you to bring family members with you. In this case, you must prove additional income equivalent to 100% of the IPREM (Spanish Social Security Income) for each family member.

The residence permit without a work permit is issued for one year. The following two years are valid for two years, and the fourth residence permit can be obtained for five years.

Additionally, a residence permit without employment can be converted into another type of residence permit—with the right to work—if you have an employer or your own business.
