Attestation of the correctness of copies for original documents in the Italian consulate is, as a rule, a concurrent procedure with the attestation of the correctness of a translation. This not only refers to documents that are received by the applicant to be used solely on the territory of Italy. The most commonly seen document of this type is a certificate of good conduct. After receiving such a certificate, an apostille is provided for it, after which a translation into Italian and an attestation of the correctness of a translation in the Italian Consulate are done.

The majority of the documents must remain with the owner (certificates from the Civil Registry Office, education documents, etc.). Thus, the originals of these documents and xeroxed copies of them are submitted to the Consulate with the corresponding translations of them into Italian stapled along with them. In this case, the Consulate attests the correctness of the copies provided and the correctness of the translations, which is considered to be two different procedures, for each of which a consular fee must be paid.
