No Claims Certificates Following Traffic Accidents

Traffic accidents are unpleasant situations that happen to every driver sooner or later. Drivers especially often encounter minor fender-benders when the only consequence was a little damage to car parts are and luckily nobody has been hurt. In such cases, the incident can be resolved without calling out a Highway Patrol Policeman and submitting a claim to your insurance company. However, in order to document in writing that the drivers will not bring forth any legal claims against each other and to evade possible issues in the future, a no claims certificate needs to be written up.

The certificate is a document bearing legal force that confirms that the participants of the accident hold no claims against each other regarding the accident. It may be used as evidence that the parties have resolved the incident peacefully without the involvement of the law enforcement authorities or their insurance companies.

Of course, a certificate cannot substitute the required involvement of a state highway patrol policeman and submission of a claim to an insurance company in the event that a traffic accident involving victims or significant material losses occurs.
