Russian document legalization for Slovakia is done by way of printing an Apostille stamp on the document. Slovakia ratified the Hague Convention of 1961 on June 6, 2001 and the Convention went into effect for the country on February 18, 2002.

The official language of Slovakia is Slovak. Translation of the document is to be done not in Russia but in Slovakia itself by sworn (court) translators.

An apostille is a square stamp imprinted on the original document or a notarial copy of the document. This stamp will allow you to use your document on the territory of another country that signed the Hague Convention. After the apostille has been stamped, no other certification or legalization in Russia will be necessary: documents processed in this way must by recognized by the official structures of all nations party to the Convention. You can acquaint yourself with the full list of countries that have joined the Hague Convention on public resources.

An apostille may not be stamped if there are legal grounds that annul or simplify the document legalization procedure. It’s also important to know that not all documents are subject to apostilling procedure.

You can always ask our company specialists how an Apostille stamp is printed, which documents can and cannot be apostilled, and which authorities of the Russian Federation are authorized to stamp it.
