Apostilling Education Documents Issued in the USSR

Keep in mind that education documents (highschool diplomas certifying graduation, diplomas certifying graduation of middle professional educational institutions, higher education diplomas, PhD, and Doctoral Degrees, as well as academic records of partial higher education) issued before May 15, 1992 on the territory of the Russian Federation, in other words on the territory of all fifteen republics that were part of the USSR, do not require nostrification.

Such education documents are recognized in the Russian Federation as valid without the need for any additional procedure for recognizing their equivalency. As a rule, they are formalized in two languages – in Russian and in the national language of the corresponding republic, so they don't even require a notarial translation into Russian.
