The Government Fee for Filing for Divorce and Property Division Is Going Up
On September 9, 2024, the cost for conducting divorce proceedings is taking a significant climb.
On this day, there will be new amendments to the Tax Code of the Russian Federation that will go into effect, which will substantially raise the court lawsuits filing fee. Indeed, the fee for demanding a divorce will rise from 600 roubles to 5,000 roubles.
- If you need to file to have a marriage certificate deemed invalid, you’ll have to pay a government fee of 3,000 roubles, rather than the previous 300-rouble fee.
- As for the government fee for filing a property division lawsuit, it is taking a major hike. The highest government fee in particular will rise from 60,000 roubles to 900,000 roubles.
- Suppose you want to divide the apartment both of you acquired during your marriage. Its cadastral value is 15,000,000 roubles.
Now the amount of the government fee for filing a court lawsuit will be 80,000 roubles + 0.35% of any amount above 8,000,000 roubles. In our case, that will be 0.35% of 7,000,000 roubles. Thus, you’ll have to pay 80,000 roubles + 24,500 = 104,500 roubles, rather than of 60,000 roubles. After September 9, 2024, you will end up having to pay 44,500 more than you would before.
If you've decided to file a lawsuit, you should hurry and file your divorce or property division lawsuit in short order, and make sure you do it by September 9, 2024.
