Oman is among the countries party to the Hague Convention of 1961 struck for the purpose of simplifying document certification procedure. For that reason, Russian documents intended for use in the country require an Apostille stamp.

However, there exists a wide array of commercial documents of which notarial copies cannot be made (and thus, an apostille cannot be stamped on them). The original document cannot be apostilled either. This applies to export documents and certain commercial documents (agreements, contracts, free hand-written accords, certificates of origin, free trade certificates, etc.). These documents are certified via the Chamber of Trade and Commerce of the Russian Federation.

Certification stages:

  • Stage 1: having the seal imprinted of a regional representative office of the Chamber of Trade and Commerce (if required) and then having the seal imprinted of the Chamber of Trade and Commerce of the Russian Federation.
  • Stage 2: submitting a document to the consular department of the embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Moscow.

IMPORTANT NOTE!

Commercial documents are certified via the Chamber of Trade and Commerce of the Russian Federation and only after that are they certified at the embassy of Oman. The amount of the consular fee is set by the consular department of the Embassy of Oman upon the visitor’s call in advance.
